air

At this writing, US Airways is still the main carrier at Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). So we're hooked up with their Wedding Program. If you're flying into town using this airline between September 21 and 27, 2005 , with no other stopovers, call 877.874.7687 between 8am and 9:30pm eastern time and refer to gold file number 23623239. You will receive five percent off following all rules and restrictions, or 10 percent off with 60 days advance reservations and ticketing, on first or envoy class or the lowest applicable published fares in F, C, D, A, B, M, or U service classes. They will not give these discounts on base fares less than $200 including federal excise tax; you can make changes on the return at any time as long as the provided the applicable service class is available and you've met minimum stay requirements. They do allow standby according to the fare rules. The standard service charge applies to all ticket reissues and cancellations according to the fare rules. All discounted fares are capacity controlled. You cannot combine discounts with other discounts or promotions, or apply them to fares obtained via the Internet. These fares do not include surcharges or passenger facility charges. We have asked them to offer this discount to up to 28 passengers; they require at least 10 passengers to quality for the discounts.

rail or bus

The station is downtown, and a cab will cost you about $20.

ground

Plan on about 40 minutes and $40 each way for cab fare from Pittsburgh International Airport to the east end of the city (where the hotels and festivities are), or take a Majesty Shuttle (or just let us know when you're arriving and we'll try to find someone to come get you).

If you want to rent a car, call Avis at 866.629.6995 and refer to AWD K609400 for the US Airways group specially negotiated rate for the Price-Bernard wedding.

Once you have a car, check out Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, AAA, and Traffic for traffic and construction information. Consult MapQuest, Maps On Us, AAA, and Rand McNally for driving directions, and the Pittsburgh Parking Authority for parking information.

public transportation

We have a decent (not great, but good for many destinations around town) public transportation system.

Regardless of how you arrive, you'll be interested in the weather forecast.

We've hired a van to shuttle guests between the Holiday Inn and the Edgewood Club between 4pm and 11pm on the night of the ceremony and reception, so you don't need to worry about parking or having a designated driver. if you prefer to drive, we will include exact directions and a map in the invitations.

To get to the Edgewood Club, site of the wedding ceremony and reception, follow these directions:

  • From points east, take I-376 west to the Edgewood/Swissvale exit. At the light at the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto South Braddock Avenue. Make the next available right onto Greendale Avenue. After 0.4 miles, Greendale Avenue turns into Race Street. After 0.2 miles, turn right onto Pennwood Avenue. Continue to the Edgewood Club, which shares a large white stucco building with the Mellor Library. Park on the street.

  • From points west, take I-376 east to the Edgewood/Swissvale exit. At the first fork in the ramp, stay left toward Edgewood. At the second fork in the ramp, stay right to Greendale Avenue. After 0.3 miles, Greendale Avenue turns into Race Street. After 0.2 miles, turn right onto Pennwood Avenue. Continue to the Edgewood Club, which shares a large white stucco building with the Mellor Library. Park on the street.

To get around town before, during, and after bar hopping, or just to see the city in an unusual way after dark, try the UltraViolet Loop (reputedly named for the screen icon Ultra Violet). You'll find other bus system maps here.
